Munro beach, Tasman Sea
We stopped at Lake Moeraki on the way from Franz Josef to Haast to do a 1.5 hr walk to Munro beach on the Tasman Sea. It is said the yellow eyed penguins go to have their young. Unfortunately, they had all fledged by the time we got there. The weather was great but very windy on the beach.
Fern on the walk to Munro Beach, Tasman Sea
I happened to look down and saw this beautiful fern resting on the floor of a small pond. The colors haven't been modified.

Jim, Mr. Plywood, and Sue are new friends from Portland, OR. He got his nickname from friends in Portland. He is so large it is like cycling behind a piece of plywood when we draft.
Four of us had a nice rest by the Tasman Sea
I'm with SueP, SueS and Marlene. We decided not to do the Three Sisters out of Franz Josef since there were going to be 16% inclines. The four of us cycled from Fox Glacier to the small town of Haast. The day was very warm and we had a good pace line going. It was the longest distance SueP had ever done.
